7. REPORTING RESULTS

Below are the results intepreted in APA format:

DESCRIPTIVE

       The sample of this test is of 40 people which consists of 20 males and 20 females. The participants all resided in Selangor whose age range between 26 to 35 years old. The descriptive statistics for the total score of the Compulsive Internet Use (CIUS) is M = 5.475, SD = 2.287, the skewness is -1.447 and the kurtosis is -0.909. Both statistics are within the value of +2 and -2. For the Online Privacy Literacy Scale (OPLIS), the descriptive statistics is M = 22.575, SD = 12.243, the skewness is 1.235 and the kurtosis is -0.448. Both statistics are within the value of +2 and -2.



SIMPLE LINEAR REGRESSION

       A simple linear regression was conducted to study whether the level of compulsive internet usage can predict online privacy literacy. The results obtained showed that compulsive internet use did not significantly predict online privacy literacy F(1, 38) = .348, = .599 although the level of compulsive internet use did account for 9% of the explained variability in the level of online privacy literacy.

For the unstandardized coefficient, for every unit change in the score of Compulsive Internet Use Scale, the Online Privacy Literacy Scale (OPLIS) will increase by 0.18 unit.

For the standardized coefficient, for standard deviation change in the score of Compulsive Internet Use Scale, the Online Privacy Literacy Scale (OPLIS) will increase by 0.095 standard deviation.



RELIABILITY ANALYSIS (CRONBACH ALPHA) 

The 14 items of the Compulsive Internet Use Scale was used to assess the severity of compulsive internet use. This scale was collected from 40 participants who resided in Selangor between the age of 26 – 35 years old. The Cronbach Alpha for this scale is 0.933 indicating an excellent reliability.

The 10 items of the Online Privacy Literacy Scale (OPLIS) was used to measure online privacy literacy. This scale was collected from 40 participants who resided in Selangor between the age of 26 – 35 years old. The Cronbach Alpha for this scale is 0.623 indicating a questionable reliability.
